Kansas City has made the most of its World Cup visibility. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for another important event – the Back2KC annual event that will take place this fall. I’ve written before about the value of this type of event, intended to reconnect people with hometown ties to the opportunities that hometown could provide for their lives and businesses.
What I love about the Kansas City event (not that it’s the only one) is the consistency. It may not look the same every year, but they have been at this since 2018. This is part of the long game of economic and community development. Too often a great idea dies out because it’s not the newest, shiniest thing, but I think there is a place for rinse and repeat to be part of a winning strategy.
