Mobile, Alabama has years of experience putting on shows to connect students to local opportunities, and this year the action moved to colleges. Showcase Mobile recently hosted 120 college students from 13 colleges and universities for a two-day event targeting key industry sectors and what it’s like for a young person to live and work in the region. According to local reporting, many of the students who attended were from outside the state.
This was the first year for this event, but Mobile was one of the first innovators in hosting 8th grade career expos for students across a number of districts know for years as Worlds of Opportunity, and others quickly followed suit, so if you aren’t already thinking about an event like this in your town, I’m thinking they are on to something here once again.
Here’s a local news write-up of the event and a TV news report
