Is this happening to you?  Because of changes in how the Census Bureau definitions 1,300 cities, towns and villages will see themselves reclassified as rural areas.  The Bureau will be switching to using housing units rather than population in some calculations of community size, and change they say is necessary.  Some communities say it won’t make any difference while others worry about a range on unintended consequences.  The American Hospital Association is on record with concerns about the effect on rural health care

Still to come – the impact this may have on who qualifies and how much competition there is for federal and state funded programs.
