It’s accepted as gospel truth that employers consider veterans to be a valuable component of any community’s local workforce.  So, in addition to marketing that workforce to employers, many places are not actively competing to be chosen by veterans as their preferred location to live and work.  Maine’s program in that space is called Boots to Roots (www.boots2roots.org), and it caught my eye.  Among many of the expected elements, they have set up a partnership with AirBnB to provide housing vouchers to make those exploratory trips to investigate jobs and lifestyle much more economical.  I’m also impressed with their monthly networking events – community promotes stickiness.
