As the focus for many places expands from attracting companies to attracting companies and talent, I’m intrigued that Oklahoma is one of the few places (as far as I know) and certainly one of the first to craft an incentive program targeted specifically at one occupation group they need to in order to support one critical industry.  The Aerospace Industry Engineer Workforce Tax Credits have been around since 2009 and was originally intended to sunset in 2018, but has been extended to 2026.  Benefits are granted to both the company hiring the engineer and to the individual.  Credits are higher for hires from in-state universities, but also available to national hires.  And  here’s the latest:  as of June a bill has passed to also provide tax credits for graduates who join the IT workforce – you can read more here.
