This month marks five years since I began the monthly A Place I’ll Remember posts. My goal continues to be to highlight the people and places who try something just a little unique to address an issue that’s not very unique at all.
Here are a few things I’ve noticed about what I’ve noticed:
- Size doesn’t matter – not the size of the place, the size of the budget, even the scale of the impact
- I like being shown the grit even more than being shown the glitter
- For every story I’ve highlighted, there are other places doing something similar, but if I don’t see it, I can’t remember it
- Community and economic development issues that have been important for years are getting more attention than ever before and that’s good, because that’s just what we need
- I’ll never stop being impressed
