I’ve been spending time this month getting ready for this year’s Advanced Economic Development Leadership Program being held in Kansas City in October.
Since 2018, I’ve been asked to speak about workforce. I’m grateful to have a lot of freedom to design remarks that I hope will move conversations forward and give all of the hard-working leaders who attend support and inspiration. Every year I work to update the material, but every year I’m struck by the fact that one theme remains constant. Whether we call it workforce or call it talent, we are talking about people. People are amazing and messy and creative and stubborn and complicated. And workforce is not “them”, it is all of us.
